TSG ACADEMY IS AN ENVIRONMENT OF EXCELLENCE FOR GOLFERS WHO WANT TO TAKE THEIR GAME TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The program is designed for young aspiring sports persons in the age group of 10 to 18 years offering CBSE between 6th-8th grade and NIOS from 9th-12th grade.

Here the model is designed to have subject matter experts deliver classes form an exclusive studio in Mysore and on-ground support staff/teachers at the academy for day-to-day supervision of study hours and student progress.

This is program is only for those on the full time residential program at the academy. The student does academics for 3-4 hours per day, for 5 days a week.

Given that every student has different tournament travel schedules it is imperative to monitor their attendance and learning process very closely.

Program highlights

  • In our flipped classroom approach the students are expected to run through video lectures and other study materials during their study hours before the session on a particular topic starts. During the self study the students are expected to note down their doubts. During the classroom session the teacher clarifies the doubts and helps the student work on worksheets, activities and projects
  • In the double flipped classroom approach the bright students are given an opportunity to help weaker students on difficult topics and solve worksheets in the presence of the teacher
  • Students can ask for individual sessions if necessary
  • Some classes are video recorded if the team foresees a requirement to revisit the session
  • Not only when they travel but also during the self-study hour daily the students are given worksheets, which they need to complete.
  • The entire syllabus has been digitized and put on the cloud for students to be able to access it wherever they are – they can make notes on the e-textbook itself and the teachers in Mysore and on campus will respond as required
  • Parents are given monthly updates about the progress of their child.
  • Students do internal monthly unit tests and quarterly exams
  • For NIOS the only exams that a student needs to give are the Board exams in grade 10 and 12.
  • For grades 6-8 the students are mandated to do an annual exam for promotion to the next grade as per the CBSE requirements

TSG Academy, PROSE and Excel School Solutions are committed to provide solutions based on the student’s requirements so that it is in their best interest to give their board exams to the best of their abilities, without compromising on their sports training.

Grades 6-8

Grades 6-8

SUBJECTS

English, Math, Science, Social Science, Computer Science

Rationale
  • The first out is in class 8 should a student want it, or for any unforeseen reason.
  • This leaves open the option of going back to a regular CBSE school.

Grades 9-10

Grades 9-10

Subjects

English, Business Studies, Social Studies, Economics and Mathematics

Rationale
  • When a student seeks admission post Class X, it is basis his ‘best 5’ subject score.
  • Pros+E and ESS prepare the student for only 5 subjects, allowing him to give his best without the pressure of doing another 5.
  • The choice of subjects allows him to get into the arts or commerce streams for 11th and 12th standard, in any college.

Grades 11-12

Grades 11-12

SUBJECTS

English, Business Studies, Mass communication, Economics and Psychology

Rationale
  • Psychology is relatable given the nature of the game they play and their access to mind-training at the academy.
  • Business Studies teaches them to think critically about the skills needed to run oneself as a business.
  • Economics gives them a macro understanding of the importance of the environment in which they (as a business in themselves) need to operate.
  • Mass Communication and English are the lighter subjects, more in tune with their upbringing and lifestyle; it also opens Arts as an option.

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT NIOS

  • There are only 2 board exams – Class 10 and 12.
  • The exams take place in the month of April and October.
  • The student has the option of taking exams for all subjects in one go or splitting it up between April and October.
  • Some subjects have a practical and TMA (teacher marked assessments) which help toward better scoring in the final exams
  • The student need not wait to finish class 10 exams to start studying the class 11 portions; however all subjects in class 10 have to be cleared before giving the class 12 exams
  • Given that the academics program is designed to support a student’s golf aspirations (and tournament schedule), finishing class 10 and 12 can often take more than 1 year to complete
